Description

World Rankings of Business Incubators and Accelerators 2019 – 2020

UBI Global is proud to present the Rankings and Recognitions Report derived from the benchmarking process of the 1580 incubators and accelerators that were initially assessed for the World Benchmark Study 2019 – 2020. Of this number, 364 programs from over 80 countries were retained for the benchmarking process. The Rankings and Recognitions were initially presented in person during the World Incubation Summit 2019 – 2020 hosted by Qatar Development Bank in Doha, Qatar and organized by UBI Global.

For the first time, UBI Global extended our research beyond university-linked incubators and accelerators to include public, private, and corporate programs. The programs were divided into sub-groups according to their affiliation with corporations, public, private, and universities as these programs have unique goals and structures. The assessed programs were compared by utilizing 21 key performance indicators (KPIs) that form the base of the subcategory scores. These scores are used to calculate the individual program impact and performance scores for all benchmarked incubators and accelerators in their own subgroups and, in the case of the Recognitions, their own region.

The World Benchmark Study has two main phases: the Benchmark Report, which will be published on January 31, 2020, and the Ranking and Recognition announcements and Report. The benchmark phase enables individual incubation programs to compare their own impact and performance with global and global top average reference groups. The rankings and recognition phase highlights top-performing programs and the reasons for their exceptional achievements.

Further examination of these cases uncovers best practices that can help other programs to become more efficient, effective, and competitive. The Rankings and Recognitions found in this report will raise awareness of the impressive work being done at business incubators and accelerators around the world and encourage the further integration of the global incubation ecosystem.
