Who should participate in the Triumph of Innovation study?

Who should participate in the Triumph of Innovation study? Business Incubators & Accelerators

Who participated in the Triumph of Innovation study?

Business Incubators &
Accelerators

Business Incubators & Accelerators support startups at all stages by providing a large array of services, from marketing to finance and legal. Startups must meet quality criteria to enroll in the program and have a controlled exit of typically three months up to five years. Business incubators often provide services for free or in exchange for fees. Business accelerators often invest in their client startups or provide stipends in return for an equity stake. Both types of programs are often run by universities, public institutions, governmental bodies, private entities, or corporations.

Corporate Innovation Teams

Corporate Innovation Teams are departments or entities affiliated with multinational organizations for the purpose of working with startups and finding innovation to further the core business, solve challenges faced by the corporation, and/or develop new technologies that create new or enhance the offering to existing customers. These teams may be a division of the corporation, a separate spin-off company, or a venture capital arm of the organization.

Current Status: Data analysis and report creation

Survey data outreach is complete, and participants will receive a confirmation email with a PDF reminding them of their answers. The UBI Global team will reach out to success story recognition candidates mid-November.

What kind of success stories are eligible for the Triumph of Innovation study?

To determine the effects of the global pandemic on the innovation ecosystem, the Triumph of Innovation study will ask for information on startups. The study examines data about startups that were successful in spite of the pandemic as well as the opposite perspective; startups that were successful because of the pandemic. The Triumph of Innovation study will go on to explore startups that successfully addressed DE&I initiatives and ESG criteria.

How will the Triumph of Innovation study examine DE&I Initiatives?

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) is a term used to describe programs and policies that encourage representation and participation of diverse groups of people, including people of different genders, races and ethnicities, abilities and disabilities, religions, cultures, ages, and sexual orientations and people with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and skills and expertise.

Triumph of Innovation will examine internal DE&I initiatives of the world’s business incubators and accelerators as well as corporate innovation teams. It will also delve into the ways startup collaboration has helped address DE&I initiatives.

Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) is a term to describe sustainability in many cases. In a business context, sustainability is about the company’s business model, i.e. how its products and services contribute to sustainable development. It is also about a company’s risk management, i.e., managing its own operations to minimize negative impact.

With regard to the Triumph of Innovation Study, ESG criteria have become a hot topic among PE, VC, and Angel investors in recent months. UBI Global aims to delve into the perspective of ESG criteria through our unique global network of business incubators and accelerators and their startups, while determining if corporate innovation teams are collaborating with startups to solve these issues.

The most eagerly anticipated part of the study is the corporate-startup collaboration examination. How did corporate innovation teams work with startups during the pandemic? Did this collaboration grow or shrink? What new pandemic-related issues have corporations solved through collaboration with startups? Join Global Innovation Studios as the newly launched program creates corporate-startup matches between Triumph of Innovation participants!

The Triumph of Innovation Report Release Event is a special hybrid (online and in-person) event taking place on December 8, 2021 during Expo 2020 in Dubai.
